The idea of doing something about the clitoris came to me when I realized that people around me didn't know what it was like. So, I did some research and asked more than a hundred people to draw it. Only two people knew how to do it, although poorly.
It doesn't seem like a coincidence to me that there is so much ignorance in the knowledge of the organ whose sole function is to generate pleasure in women. For centuries, society, religions and often the family itself have tried to repress female sexual pleasure. Not to mention infibulation that persists (and legally!) in some countries. “I am Clitoris” gives voice to that organ, allows it to present itself and defend its existence and its function. It allows it to ask to be treated equally like all other parts of the body. The artworks are on frames of different sizes because I wanted to represent the different ages of women. I also wanted to give a personality to each clitoris because each woman is a unique world.
