In the 1990s, I sought a way to represent the joy of living and the fullness of inner happiness. I imagined that this joy could be so expansive that it would no longer fit inside the body — stretching and reshaping it, like the air inside a balloon. From that vision, these enlarged figures were born: big yet weightless, expanded not by heaviness but by an inner lightness that pushes outward.
In this series, I celebrate the wonder and magic of our inner consciousness — that luminous force that makes us love life, remain curious, and be astonished by every one of its expressions. These figures embody the sensation of overflowing vitality, the beauty of feeling so alive that the body becomes a vessel too small for its own delight.
Through their forms, I invite viewers to reconnect with that expansive state, to recognize the quiet brilliance within themselves, and to rediscover the joy that can reshape us from the inside out.
