Welcome to my world!
Welcome to my world!
I was born in Rome, Italy and grew up in Caracas, Venezuela where, from an early age, I began taking painting classes. After finishing high school, I returned to Italy to study architecture. That was a period of great learning because it allowed me to visit the best museums in Europe; admire the art and the architecture from pre-Roman times to the present day; come into contact with such different and all fascinating cultures...
I graduated summa cum laude in architecture and completed other studies at the University of Szombathely in Hungary and Carabobo University in Venezuela. I worked as an architect for twenty years in Venezuela where I held my first exhibitions and won several awards in the different art salons. But the time came when I had to choose between architecture and painting. Both disciplines required a lot of my time and I had almost no space for my private life. Then I decided to dedicate myself completely to art. I came to Miami and opened my own studio. Since then I have not stopped studying and experimenting with new techniques.
Throughout my life I have traveled constantly through America, Asia, Africa, and I consider these trips part of my education because they have given me a great mental openness and the ability to empathize with people very different from me. I currently have my studio in the Bird Road Art District of Miami, where my art and I grow together.
I like to use various techniques in my works: oil, acrylic, encaustic, acids, gold, collage ... I try to integrate the technique with what I want to express in that specific work.
My latest works are textile art. I am in love with this medium. It takes me in some way to my ancestors and to all the women who in the course of history have knitted, embroidered, sewn. It's like following an ancient lineage of magical threads.
Since I was little I have been committed to equal rights, respect for human beings and animals, the preservation of the environment and the harmonious integration of cultures. This is the consistency of my work that, although style and technique change over the years, remains alive in each of my works. From the integration of cultures of my Icons in the 90s to the textile works of today, from the encaustic works of the Omo Rives series to the collages of the Tarot or Mind series, always the love towards human beings and towards life is what I want to transmit with my work.
